It started out fine, or so we thought. Then they said the price was going up to $25 per month for “HIPAA compliant” service, which was not available just a few months before when we signed up. When we asked for an explanation, Adam C with Humblefax responded unprofessionally and failed to answer our question. We wondered how they knew the contents of what we were faxing? Adam claimed they have AI technology, but it’s clear a human must have reviewed the contents of our communication, in violation of HIPAA, to be so certain that we were “required” to pay $25 per month for HIPAA compliant fax service. (Side note: we consulted with an attorney who advised that we are not required to use a HIPAA compliant fax service so long as we are otherwise complying with the regulations.) After canceling the service, we also discovered that several important faxes that were shown as successfully delivered by Humblefax NEVER ARRIVED at the recipient. Lastly, they released our fax number we ported over from AT&T, a number our organization has had for many years, so that we were unable to port it to our new, competent fax provider.

Have begun using Claude in clarifying legal arguments in appellate briefs. It is spooky how much it seems to know, and puts my own understanding of the topic in clear terms. When the AIs quality approaches the average IQ of the average lawyer (and that goes for every respective occupation's worker IQ) the Terminator apocalypse at the economic scale will have begun; why pay for human thinking power when AI is as smart as needed to the same job?

if the proponent accentuates why he/she isn't using the statement(s), wouldn't that be a passive way to highlight the hearsay into evidence?

Word of mouth advertising is a main source of clients. Keeping clients on the winning team and feeling like they aren’t over paying is key. Great advice here.

So the matter asserted is the thing that the person offering the evidence is trying to demonstrate as true. Hearsay is anything from a second hand (or more distant) source that is used in an attempt to do so. E.g. if A hears B say event [1] happened, and A intends to demonstrate that [1] happened by giving B's statement as second hand testimony, this is hearsay. It is not hearsay if: 1. B is on the stand and gives their own statement about [1] happening directly to the court. 2. A is only trying to demonstrate that B said [1] occurred, not that [1] actually did occur. Am I getting this wrong?

Your “question” is a declarative statement. Questions begin with who, what, where, when, why, how or with a helping verb.

Glad I found this as a law student. My ego has been threatened so much in my first year and just watching this has put a lot of my anxieties in perspective. I also think the ego becomes “toxic” (reflecting on your question) when it tries to hold you accountable for factors beyond your control…

This lawyer is in denial. The comment right below this, said not in the near future. Well the future probably is 5-10 years. AI can already produce movies without using actors, directors and camera and lighting people. If it can do that, it can certainly learn to argue in the future.
